The forest pathology subject matter committee is made up of an unlimited number of members who each serve a 3-year term. To become a committee member, you must be a member of the American Phytopathological Society. Interested members should contact the committee chair prior to the annual meeting to indicate their interest in serving on the committee. Committee chairs will compile their committee nominations based on the interest they receive prior to the meeting, as well as from those attending the meeting. Member names submitted on the nomination form, which will be turned in at the annual meeting, will become members of the committee. New members begin their term at the end of the APS annual meeting at which they were nominated. Further information on committee membership is available on the APS website at:
http://apsnet.org/members/com/volunteer.asp
The committee meets once per year, at the APS national meeting. Other communication throughout the year is conducted via a committee listserv, other e-mails, and phone calls.
Any person with an interest in forest pathology is welcome to attend the committee meetings and participate in discussion. However on matters of official business, only official committee members will vote. The meetings are generally structured yet informal.
One of the main responsibilities of the committee is to propose and organize sessions for the APS annual meetings. |
